Trial Chambers & Auto Crafting! Minecraft LIVE 2023 Restream & Reactions // The Spawn Chunks Podcast
there used to be a time when i used to listen to these every week without miss, now its just another notification one particularly memorable memory was the other guy (not pixlriffs) talking about modded minecraft storage. for something so normal, experiencing the passage of time sure does feel like a big thing thank you for a great time and farewell
I sent in a 300 q & a fanart
Just curious, what was your question so I can listen for it?
Precipice was absolute peak
The sounds of composers in the music reminds me of C418's Intro. Probably why that one didn't end up in the game 😅
Cool echo effect at the end! :D
Lol when you mentioned music box versions of the other songs I immediately imagined one for Pigstep, that would definitely have to sound creepy...
Creator is so fun, it reminds me a lot of steampunk!
Yeah! Eld Unknown was amazing!!
I noticed that a few tracks reminded me of previous soundtracks in their melodies, I don't remember all the names (but I think one of them reminded me of One More Day a bit? Or possibly the other one from that update that refers to some kind of new day feeling in its title, idk) but the one I definitely remember because amethyst is my favourite block in the game is Infinite Amethyst, and I noticed immediately that one of the new ones, Endless, felt similar to it in structure but with a different melody and I thought that was neat but then the melody changed to be identical to Infinite Amethyst and aaa I love that my favourite soundtrack basically has a sequel now!!! I know there's probably a better term for non-lyrical songs that sound the same, but I just feel like it's a sequel, since it came out so much later... (I also noticed something vaguely like the chimes of Infinite Amethyst in one of the other new tracks, is it called Descent? Or maybe Deeper. But not as much as Endless even though that used different instruments.)
Oh wow, when Joel talked about the first song you hear when playing the game, I just thought about the first few notes of one of those and got chills... yeah, Minecraft music is something else!!
Fun and interesting rabbit trail, guys. Would be interested to hear more once you've had the chance to experience them in game (or i guess _with_ the game)
Haven’t watched y’all in 5 years
I still think they should keep the librarian rebalancing but fix the enchanting table so it's actually useful and not tedious
9:20 i think a way to make the Enderman farm safer in sos would be to add a slab roof on the path so only players can walk under and they can be 99% sure they won't die in that spot :P 22:55 the wobbly effect definitely affects those like me who have unfortunately been through too many concussions lol so having the option to diminish those effects helps tremendously on the headaches and migraines! 1:04:00 i'm a pretty "slow" player already so it's been two years since i've kept in the same vanilla world and i haven't beaten the dragon yet lol but i completely understand why mojang is encouraging the "been there done thats" to explore around and raid some cool structures if they want instead of speedrunning beating the dragon etc,
Did Pix just say he got mogged by endermen? 🗿
I am selling slowness arrows on my SMP (and planning to sell poison ones too) and they actually sell quite good.
Nice podcast
Keep up tje good work guys, Please reply.
Joel hates all of the elements of the game that make it a game lol
Shut up @nennysprokuktions
Nice guys keep up the good work 😊
I'm in a single player world and most of me farms over produce for what I need. In my quest to get a double chest of every reasonable block in the game I often trade with villager when I can. I have a few villager with low trades for books, tools, weapons and armor. But most I don't because the ones I'm selling to I want to get rid of what I can. So for example I made a Hoglin farm to get pork and leather. I use the leather and sell the pork but the problem is only a handful of the villager buy pork. So if all the trades were one or two emerald I would never get rid of it.
Not sure if it's been pointed out but the thumbnail you guys use as a visual for the episode is smaller then normal. Or to use an apt minecraft metaphor you left a block on the wall in the editing room so you got a smaller painting when you placed it.
i feel villagers as a whole are so fundamentally flawed that no amount of tweaking will make trading fun, short of entirely gutting and replacing villager mechanics and the trading system. These jailcell zombie torture chamber trading halls are the result of layers of bad game design decisions.
I got to disagree with you on removing the old painting, it's kinda rude to call them dumb they were made by someone for the game, just because you don't understand stand the art doesn't mean it doesn't fit. Personally the only thing I want with paintings is for them to be more like music disc's where you have to find them but i geuss thats also a crazy take 😅.
I agree that dumb was the wrong word to use, but i think he meant they didnt fit or were hard to use together with other blocks, similarly to the old netherrack texture
@@L1melemon I get that I just really disagree, if the painting doesn't fit your build that has nothing to do with the painting itself and more to do with the build, that's why it's good to have more so people can have some that do fit there specific build.
13:43 this reminds me of a video where a UA-camr quickly makes their own version of archeology but for like the pots they basically retexture chickens into pots, make them delete layed eggs on touch and change the loot table.
I had no idea Ulraf was so involved in the design & development of the mace! It's really cool to hear his perspective on the update as well as to hear a bit more about how much thought & effort goes into every feature before it is revealed publicly. Especially with the comparison that gets made so often in the community between features in polished updates & and one-offs like the April Fools snapshots. Another great episode 👏
Ulraf's laughter is so contagious. I never knew
Ulraf's hardcore world where you teleport 1000s of blocks on death reminds me of the TV show Quantum Leap where you keep going forward and hope one day you might return home.
@Joel Hi! Great work on the episode. I just want to make a note. I am a hay farmer in Maine, USA. If you wrap green hay up tightly you run the risk of mold and composting. Mold is dangerous to some livestock, but not all. Compost is surprisingly more dangerous. If you have a big enough pile of green hay the heat of the compost can actually start a fire inside. Then you run the risk of your barn burning down. Obviously, none of this matters technically in Minecraft. I just got concerned as a farmer when I heard the words "green hay wrapped up tightly" 😅 Keep up the good work guys. I love your show
I love how there are so many people with different professions listening to this podcast.
What a great episode. The thought processes of Ulraf and team are the creative engine ensuring Minecraft’s relevancy for 50 more years.
I would have to say that this is a more recent phenomena in Minecraft; using blocks as textural paint pallets rather than as their intended block material. there weren't enough blocks in the game to make nice gradients and randomizations and shading until recently. Before, you had dirt, cobble, brick, and planks. So the ground was dirt, your walls were bricks, and your roof was planks; Because what else would they be? things are a lot more interesting now.
Great podcast guys, Ulraf is an amazing guest. Not only is he a wonderful insight to Mojang but he's also very entertaining. As a mobile player, my world is always with me, hearing Ulraf is also playing mobile and has first hand experience of what mobile bedrock players feel and love is amazing. Keep up the great work team.
1:55:04 This is the most important and enlightening part of the entire podcast in my opinion
This podcast was very insightful, but I will say, it's a little disappointing to see the hosts agree with the guest on almost every point. I know it's unlikely, but I would like to see someone civilly debate Ulraf on the Mace, to get a bit more understanding about his, and the development team's considerations. For example, I find it a bit absurd to call the mace (in its current iteration) "high-risk high-reward", when (with Density and Breach enchantments), it can one-shot a maxed-out player by jumping from a height where Feather Falling will absorb all your fall damage even if you miss (4 blocks fall). Also, hearing Ulraf mention the "PvP community" makes me wonder how much care Mojang has for the naturally occuring, spontaneous PvP that occurs on SMPs that isn't necessarily between members of the "PvP community"; because that's where I think the Mace has the most negative impact, imo.
Part of that might be a lack of knowledge. I would have agreed with basically everything, especially with Ulraf providing new insights and information that takes more time to absorb and create a rebuttal. I wasn't aware that a 4 block fall could one shot a kitted out player, I'd have to look into that more. But the risk vs reward comes from trying to one shot the wither/Warden/dragon. And remember, it's still being balanced. I encourage you to re listen to the last 20 min of the stream, specially about community feedback, how it's delivered, and what makes it valuable. Both Johnny and Joel were pretty adamant about the mace sprite coming into this episode, but were very civil and open minded when it got to the discussion. In the end there were considerations neither had made prior to this and Ulraf knew things they (and we) didn't. Joel brought it up in a very good way, but ultimately Ulraf isn't even sure yet, so only time will tell.
They wouldn't have the opportunity to interview him at all without a reputation of going easy on the company.
It's been pretty clear since the mace was announced how both Pixlriffs & Joel feel about the Mace & other features coming in the update over the course of many episodes. They don't need to "disagree" in order to have a meaningful or insightful discussion about something. They all were giving their perspectives as is the nature of a podcast & a conversation generally. Not quite sure why it'd be disappointing just because the perspectives of the hosts &/or guest aren't the same as your own. People have different perspectives & that's completely okay.
@@thebushnaI'm not criticizing Pix and Joel for sharing their perspectives, which is why I left out their names in my comment. I'd just like to see an interview/podcast between the community and the developers, where there's a little bit of civil debate back and forth.
On the discussion of hardcore worlds, of love you guys to talk with Taneesha Hogan... Her hardcore series is incredible and her "rise to fame" story is really fun and cool.
My only concern with hardcore on bedrock is unfair glitchy deaths, such as dying going through a nether portal while the world is still loading. Those are the type of stories we're going to start hearing from bedrock players.
Hey! They actually addressed this too, saying it was a priority before 1.21 launch for bedrock to fix as many of these bugs as possible
I hope so, but I play on a Nintendo switch, so I'm probably not going to take my chances. I don't even bother getting netherite armor anymore, since I lose it to glitches and despawning too often.
I love tuning into theses.
Congrats on getting Ulraf on your podcast
51:25 So basically hypixel skyblock?
54:14 If you like this idea then consider checking out my datapack that implements a version of this. It’s called “Librarian’s Balance” on Modrinth.
Spawn Chunk Episodes have kept me interested in Minecraft even during lulls & listening to each new episode is easily one of my favorite things to look forward to every week. Thank you Pix & Joel! 🙏🏽
There's something so wholesome about Joel's "Thanks, man, I appreciate it," whenever Pix compliments him. 😊
I completely agree with Pix, the trial chambers are definitely a dungeon remake. The trial spawners are basically the old dungeons in one block.
If the watchers are the viewers, who are watchers 1 and 2?
1:02:00 is it safe to say ice shard's Email predicted the addition of Wind Burst enchantment for the Mace? If not, I'd say they definitely came pretty close to foreseeing it
You guys should do a collab with @impandskizzpodcast
Oh yes
Thank you guys so much for reading my email! What a fantastic discussions, many great counterpoints brought up 😯
I love the limitations of most challenge maps, especially Superflat. When the structures became available was the biggest for me. The biggest downside for me is that when starting a new Superflat world is having to start with 1.16 and then updating to each update one at a time.
Fun discussion! Was really surprised about all the limitations in the superflat. "Not having snow for 12years..." *jawdrop* Mog is such a great addition to SOS. Can't wait seeing Pix and Mog team up in the ancient city (and hopefully another satisfying dig timelapse from Pix? 😀 Please)
